Demos of the Week

I'm excited about bring you wonderful people of Craftsville two (count them TWO, bwa-ha-ha-ha, I love to count the) demos this week.

Up first I'll be demo-ing the Paper-ED class Tags of Christmas Past in which we'll use some of the Tim Holtz Distress Inks, some stamps, and punches, and all kinds of other fun embellishments to create some amazing vintage look holiday tags.  That's Tuesday 10/25/11 from 4pm-6pm.

And secondly, I've got some glitter up my sleeve, that I'll be using for my Glittering Demo Friday 10/28/11 from 11:00-1:00.  If you've tried glittering before without success, come ask your questions, I can help. I've made all the mistakes, and learned from them.  I can show you new adhesives, and new glitters, and new tools to make your glittering process neat, fun, and tear free from beginning to end.

Both demos take place at Michaels West Broad Street. Hope to see you there.

Thank You Card for Bus Driver

Let met start by saying that my family and I just recently moved from the city to the suburbs and although my daughter is in the third grade, this is the first year we've had experience riding a school bus.   In the city she attended an out-of-district school and I drove her each and every day.  So until these past few months I had little appreciation for the school bus driver.  And our route must have one of the nicest, kindest, most caring school bus drivers on the planet.  He knows ALL THE KIDS by name, he watches out for my son, who is in kindergarten, makes sure the little ones get on and off the bus first, reminds the kids not to forget stray umbrellas, lunch boxes and sweaters, just a great guy all around.

I made this "card", which is really a 9x9 single page, doesn't fold, using the Cricut machine and three different cartridges.  Plantin for the lettering, Stretch Your Imagination for the school bus and the Paper Doll Dress Up for all the kids.  I absolutely LOVE the paper dolls.  It was so simple to use each button had all the parts for one costume and there are so many accessories.  You could make entire story books.  There are princesses and knights and dragons and castles, and horses.  It was so much fun.

I took the card to the bus stop this morning and had all the kids from our stop sign the card and we gave it to him.  We could tell he was happy to have received the gift.

AND you get to use our tools.  So if you need to cut out some perfectly shaped letters, we've got a Cricut machine for that!

OR if you've got a project just crying out for grommets but you don't have a grommet setter, we've got you covered.

We've got your Tim Holtz Distress Inks, we've got you Martha Stewart Punch-Around-the-Page, we've got stamps, we've got punches, we've got ink pads, and scissors, and heat guns, and glitter and glue and all we need is you.  And all you need is your photos and paper.  Hope to see you there.

Halloween Altered Album

I've decided to step away from my Halloween album.  I don't think I can ever really call it finished, but at least until I have some photos to put in it, we're taking a break.  Because the album barely closes as it is, and there are no photos yet.  I can't resist posting a few photos now, there will be more later as this was an intense from scratch album build.  The album itself is built on the brown paper bag technique, which is offered as a Paper-ED class at Michaels.  This album is my person take on the paper bag album, complete with hand-stitched leather cover.  And let me tell you, folks, this is were being an omnicrafter is super useful.  I already had ALL these tools.

Paper-ED Tim Holtz Halloween

There is still time for Tim!  Don't delay, sign up now for a Tim Holtz Halloween Banner class at Michaels on West Broad.  We'll spend a few hours distressing, inking, stickling, and embellishing a truly unique Halloween banner perfect for your celebration this year and for years to come.  See the October Paper-ED schedule for dates and times.
